Secretary
CSR, RPR, CRR, President, Platinum Reporters & Interpreters, Inc.
Ghada Young is a certified shorthand reporter and president of Platinum Reporters & Interpreters, Inc. She has owned and operated her own agency and provided services to the industry since 1994. Ghada has been licensed in multiple states and was one of the first reporters to obtain the national certification of certified real-time reporter.
Ghada has won multiple speed contests for steno machine shorthand, has been retained to teach other licensed reporters tips and tricks and technological advancements, has been the subject of articles in the National Journal of Court Reporting, and in 1994 was the sole winner of the National Captioning Institute’s annual scholarship, a highly competitive process open to national competitors whereby the single winner is chosen based on essay writing, speed contest, and analyzing of the reporter’s actual steno notes during the speed competition. She has been personally requested by clients to handle extremely high-dollar litigation as well as high-profile litigation involving celebrities, politicians, diplomats and royalty, as well as superior court judges on trial for misconduct.
Ghada is highly involved in the day-to-day operations of Platinum Reporters & Interpreters. She has obtained several industry-related patents and produced highly proprietary custom-made patented software which is used for the operation of Platinum. This software has helped the industry transition to a paperless system, achieve a high level of cost containment without sacrificing quality, and receive a highly customized experience and final product. Platinum is a customer-service oriented boutique agency with a repertoire of prestigious clients ranging from public entities such as the State of California to large private clients such as United Parcel Service and everything in between.
Prior to obtaining her certification as a court reporter, Ghada had a diversified career in accounting and real estate, including asset management. Ghada worked for such entities as Trammel Crow Company and BDO Seidman (now BDO USA) before becoming self-employed. She obtained an undergraduate degree in theology from Marymount University while building her business and being a single mother of a beautiful daughter. Ghada has even dabbled a bit in motivational speaking for private events. She has additional ownership interests in healthcare staffing entities and an IT consulting business.
Both Platinum Reporters and Ghada are strong believers of giving back. Ghada has for most of her life been an activist and contributor for worthwhile causes, ranging from feeding the homeless of Los Angeles via charities started by Mother Teresa to raising funds for inner city children with disabilities to downright being a regular blood donor for Children’s Hospital and the American Red Cross. Ghada’s beliefs in social justice, diversity and inclusion, and equal opportunities for the marginalized, coupled with her professional background, make her the perfect fit for secretary of AAWCP.
